International Women’s Day: Women Around the World

Today is International Women’s Day. I’m a very lucky woman. I’m in a relationship with a man who is feminist and I work in a job with equal pay between men and women. What’s more, we have more women in leadership roles despite working in an industry which has more men. Yet, not everyone is so lucky. I only found out while researching this that in 32 countries, women need their husband’s permission to apply for a passport. International Women’s Day (IWD) is a time for us to call out gender inequality. One of my favourite things about travelling is the …

Beating the January Blues with a Week in Prague

As January 1st 2018 approached, I commented to Mitch that for the past three years we’ve always booked a flight to somewhere on New Year’s Day. Often in a tired state, we book an adventure for later in the year or, sometimes, about three weeks time. We joked that we should make it a tradition. So, this year we continued the trend. Helen’s 7 Steps to Travel Planning

*Collaborative piece I like planning. I especially like planning travels and I’d like to think that I’m pretty good at it these days. An element of surprise can be nice, but the planning stage does require some organisation. These are my seven steps to planning any trip. 1. It’s particularly useful if you want to travel to a country with political unrest or with areas where conflict is ongoing. We found it really …

Exploring the Pubs of Bristol

Now that Mitch and I are living in Bristol for a while, we’re keen to explore our hometown some more. One of the additions to our home is the Pub stops of Bristol poster. Alas, ours is a tad out of date. Nevertheless, it’s a great way to explore new areas of Bristol and visit new pubs. Neither Mitch nor I can drive yet so we’ve been walking to these pubs and exploring new suburbs of Bristol that we’ve never walked through before. Walking an hour to a pub makes that pint of cider much more worthwhile. We’re marking off …

11 Travel Highlights of 2017

2017 has been another epic year of travelling. I’m lucky enough to have visited some amazing places. In no particular order, here are some of my travel highlights of the year. Hopefully, they can give you some great ideas for your 2018 travels! 1. Living in Paradise: Isla Holbox I made my love of Isla Holbox very apparent in my blog post about it. White sands and blue water make it a must on any trip to the Yucatan peninsula. Swap Cancun for Holbox if you want a slower pace and friendlier vibe. I can’t praise this island enough and …
