The Kindness of Strangers

While travelling, getting lost is easy. Signs are in a language you don’t understand, transport works in a different way and maps are often difficult to read.

However, being lost is a great way to see the kindness of people in the world. I’d like to share an example: last night our tram home ended up in a completely different place to where we were staying (why do your tram routes change at night Warsaw!?). Two lovely Ukrainian students led us to their student accommodation to use their wifi and find a route home for us from this random area of Warsaw. One of them took us to the bus stop and even checked we had polish money and gave us a bus ticket.

This is a small gesture in the grand scheme of things but for us they made a real difference. Travelling can be stressful, and kindness from local people make such a big difference. Thank you to these lovely people.

I must remember to be this kind to lost tourists in England.
